VACATION DAY #2

On Sunday morning, we got up early and headed to San Francisco.  Andy and Summer didn't come with us, but they told us what to go see.  Andy made us a map and wrote directions so we wouldn't miss anything or get lost in all the one way streets.

The drive from their house was about an hour and it was a really pretty drive.  Nate kept checking the weather and it was saying rain.  We were bummed because we planned on walking a lot.  We got there ad the weather was perfect!  Gavin was sleeping when we first got into San Francisco so we did a lot of the driving and sight seeing before we ever went to the hotel.  We drove to see the baseball stadium, Chinatown, Union Square, and a couple of other sights.

I woke Gavin up so he could see the Bay Bridge that seemed like we drove through it for a long time,

Alcatraz,

The Golden Gate Bridge, and

Lombard St. that zig zags back and forth.  Gavin loved going down this street so we had to drive down it more than once.

We eventually made our way over to Fisherman's Wharf so Nate could order clam chowder

I don't eat clam chowder, but I did try Nate's and it was SO good.

We ate and he slept...I think he was exhausted from the drive

We stopped here to get Gavin a cookie and the place looked so cool we went back for dinner.  We walked on the second floor to look over and watch the production of the sourdough bread loaves.  It is amazing how much bread they make

Finally made our way over to Pier 39.  Everyone told us to make sure we make it here and check it out.  This pier has so many restaurants and stores and things to do.  I think you could spend half the day here.

After walking the pier and sightseeing, we decided to take Gavin to the aquarium and I think this was his favorite part of the whole trip.  He couldn't believe how many fish there were how big they were.  He didn't want to leave

Couldn't believe he was touching anything

Every time a big fish went by, he would say, "Look Daddy.  That fish is huge.  Its bigger than you!"

We went to ride the Trolly Cable cars and the line was SO long.  We didn't want to wait so went back to the hotel, changed into warmer clothes, and headed back down a little later.  The line was still long, but not as bad.  We stood in line right in front of Ghirardelli Square.  Looked pretty cool

The ride was freezing, but fun!

Something was pretty hilarious!!

On Monday morning, we got up and got back on the road to head home.  This seemed like the Longest.Drive.Ever.  It felt so good to be home and out of the car.

San Francisco was beautiful and we had a lot of fun.  I definitely want to go back again!

VACATION DAY #1

A couple weeks ago, we decided we were going to take a last minute trip up north to see our friends, Andy and Summer in Sacramento, and go to San Francisco.  Gavin and I had never been to San Francisco and I have been wanting to go and see it.  It was the one of the few weekends that worked for all of us so we went for it.  We got up early on Friday and headed north.

Gavin was quite the long distance traveler.  He never whined or complained about getting out of the car. He played his Mobi Go games, watched movies, and napped.  It went a lot smoother than I expected with a toddler!

He had to turn to make sure I got a picture of Mater and the other side was Lightning McQueen

The drive seemed to go pretty quickly on the way there.  I didn't realize that there was so much farmland and greenery for most of the 5 freeway.  We saw so many trucks loaded to the top with tomatoes and garlic!

Once we finally got to Sacramento, we got ready and all of us went to dinner at Chevy's on the river.  It was pretty chilly, but the atmosphere was really fun.  The next morning, we got up and Andy and Summer took us to see some of the cool stuff around town.  We drove to see the college where Andy works and then went to the Capitol Building.  It was neat to see the building in real life.  There was a wedding party taking pictures by the building and Gavin asked if we could see the "real princess."

We ended up spending most of the day in Old Town Sacramento.  There was a lot of ice cream parlors, candy shops, and old fashioned stores.  I wish we had somewhere fun like this around here.

We couldn't pass up the train ride that goes through the middle of the little town.  Gavin loved being on a real train.  It was right around nap time so he was almost sleeping by the end of the ride.

This was the candy shop, Candy Heaven.  I have never been in a candy shop like this before.  This picture is a very small part of it.  There was so many different types of candy that I felt overwhelmed.  Gavin picked out some M&Ms and they were $10 and they got left at the register!

After a fun filled day, we headed back to Andy and Summer's house and the boys BBQ'd a really good dinner.  Andy had some steaks from Nebraska and I think it might be the best steak we have ever had.  Thanks for the hospitality, we had a lot of fun!  Hope we can make it back up there again soon:-)

MY BIRTHDAY

Last Wednesday, I turned 29 and I had the perfect day!  We got up in the morning and the 3 of us got to go for the first ultrasound and see Baby Lorge.  It is always so exciting to see the baby and hear the heartbeat.  Everything looks good!  There is ONE baby, the heartbeat was 133, and they gave me the official due date of March 3rd.  She said the baby was probably the size of a sunflower seed.  Seeing Baby Lorge #2 was very exciting because we had Gavin with us and he got to see it too!  He was a little confused because on the way there, we were telling him that we were going to the Dr to see the baby.  When we got there, he didn't actually see a baby.  He understands that the baby is in my stomach, but its a lot for him to take in.

My scanner isn't working so I took a picture of the picture

Gavin and I spent the afternoon with Amy and Taylor and we went to lunch and did some shopping.  That night, we went to PF Changs for dinner with friends and family.  I had a good time visiting with everybody and eating such good food.

Me and my favorite boy. . . the only picture I got that day

This is the last year of my twenties and I can already tell its going to be an exciting one!!

We gave this picture to our parents to tell them the news

That's Right...Gavin is going to be a Big Brother and he is really excited about it!  After what seems like FOREVER, we are so happy to finally announce that Baby Lorge #2 is on the way!!!  We aren't sure why it took us so long to get pregnant this time around, but we are beyond excited that it has finally happened and we will soon be a family of 4:-)

When we found out. . .
A couple weeks ago, I had a follow up appointment at the Dr. to try and see what the "hold up" was.  Nate had asked if I wanted him to come with me and I said, "No, it's fine.  Its the same thing every time.  We will talk, she will write me another prescription, and thats it."  Boy, was I wrong!  I went in and she had me give a urine sample, so I did, and then went back to the room and waited...and waited.  The nurse peeked her head in the room and told me that she did a test and there is 2 lines.  I was a little doubtful and told her that I had gotten false positives with tests similar to that before.  Then she held up another one and said, "That's why I did 2!!"  I was in shock for a few minutes, considering I had a done a test the night before in hopes that I didn't have to go to this appointment.

I called Nate after the appointment and he was going to pick up our dog from the groomer.  I literally had less than 10 minutes to figure out how I wanted to tell him.  Then I thought of something.  I had made him a picture book for Father's Day with him and Gavin and all the reasons why He loves his Daddy.

Each page said different reasons why he loves his daddy

I quickly added an extra page at the very end of the book and taped the test at the bottom.

So that's our big news for the Summer.  And the countdown begins all the way to the end of February!!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY

Our 4th of July weekend was busy and I am pretty happy it is over.  Our friends Andy and Summer were in town visiting from Sacramento so we got to see them a couple of times.  We always have a good time and like seeing them!

On Sunday, my grandma had an 80th birthday party.  I think she still looks so good and I can't believe she is 80.  We had fun at the party, visiting with family.  Our cousin Candice just got engaged so we had a lot of wedding conversation.

After the party, we headed over to the Avalos household for their BBQ/party.  Gavin had so much fun playing with the kids and swimming with Madalyn.

On Monday, Nate's family came over and we walked to breakfast and then to the parade.  We thought it was a good idea to walk since we live so close, but it was WAY TOO HOT!  We watched for a while, but then headed home before it was over.

He started to play in the yard instead of watching the parade

After Gavin napped for a while, we headed over to my mom and Robert's for a BBQ and swimming.  The kids swam a lot and we all ate WAY TOO MUCH.  There was so many snacks and so much good food.  Gavin was so excited for the fireworks this year and he was sad to see them end.

Hope everyone had a happy and safe 4th!!

MINI VACATION

Amy and I took Gavin and Taylor to Palm Desert for 2 days and spent time with Emma.  We were busy the entire time and the kids had so much fun.  On the way there, we stopped at Cabazon and planned on doing some shopping and when we got out the car, it was WINDY and COLD!!  We quickly went to the couple of stores we like and got back on the road.  Allison took us to the Children's Museum and we stayed for a while.  It was a lot like Pretend City and the kids had so much to do.  Gavin really liked the art station, where he discovered glue and scissors.

Can you tell how much he liked the glue??

He also spent some time in the animal hospital with this dog and it's puppy,

Did a little grocery shopping,

He was checking his pockets for money...didn't find any:-(

Got to pretend to be an archaeologist,

And rode on a police motorcycle!

The next day, we hung by the pool and got to spend some time with Nana and Bob.  The kids had so much fun swimming with them!  The kids made their Great Grandpa Bob a stepping stone with their handprints for Fathers Day and he LOVED IT.  He said it is one of the best Fathers Day gifts he has ever gotten before.

He is pretending to be a shark in the water

After a long day at the pool, we bathed the kids and hit the road to come home.  Thank you, Allison, for all the hospitality!
