VACATION DAY #2

On Sunday morning, we got up early and headed to San Francisco.  Andy and Summer didn't come with us, but they told us what to go see.  Andy made us a map and wrote directions so we wouldn't miss anything or get lost in all the one way streets.

The drive from their house was about an hour and it was a really pretty drive.  Nate kept checking the weather and it was saying rain.  We were bummed because we planned on walking a lot.  We got there ad the weather was perfect!  Gavin was sleeping when we first got into San Francisco so we did a lot of the driving and sight seeing before we ever went to the hotel.  We drove to see the baseball stadium, Chinatown, Union Square, and a couple of other sights.

I woke Gavin up so he could see the Bay Bridge that seemed like we drove through it for a long time,

Alcatraz,

The Golden Gate Bridge, and

Lombard St. that zig zags back and forth.  Gavin loved going down this street so we had to drive down it more than once.

We eventually made our way over to Fisherman's Wharf so Nate could order clam chowder

I don't eat clam chowder, but I did try Nate's and it was SO good.

We ate and he slept...I think he was exhausted from the drive

We stopped here to get Gavin a cookie and the place looked so cool we went back for dinner.  We walked on the second floor to look over and watch the production of the sourdough bread loaves.  It is amazing how much bread they make

Finally made our way over to Pier 39.  Everyone told us to make sure we make it here and check it out.  This pier has so many restaurants and stores and things to do.  I think you could spend half the day here.

After walking the pier and sightseeing, we decided to take Gavin to the aquarium and I think this was his favorite part of the whole trip.  He couldn't believe how many fish there were how big they were.  He didn't want to leave

Couldn't believe he was touching anything

Every time a big fish went by, he would say, "Look Daddy.  That fish is huge.  Its bigger than you!"

We went to ride the Trolly Cable cars and the line was SO long.  We didn't want to wait so went back to the hotel, changed into warmer clothes, and headed back down a little later.  The line was still long, but not as bad.  We stood in line right in front of Ghirardelli Square.  Looked pretty cool

The ride was freezing, but fun!

Something was pretty hilarious!!

On Monday morning, we got up and got back on the road to head home.  This seemed like the Longest.Drive.Ever.  It felt so good to be home and out of the car.

San Francisco was beautiful and we had a lot of fun.  I definitely want to go back again!
