FAMILY TIME

We got to see our aunts last weekend and spend some time catching up.  I wish this happened more often, but life gets so busy and it is hard to get everyone together.  It is always nice to see them.  Thanks again  for the good food and drinks and all the hospitality.  We love you guys!

OUCH

Gavin fell and got pretty scraped up today...and we don't know how.  We were working in the backyard and he was out there helping.  Nate and I walked into the garage and he followed shortly after, but he was SCREAMING!  We thought he was scared because he didn't see where we went, but as he got closer, we saw that he was hurt.  He had a thick layer of dirt all over his face and a lot of dirt in his nose, teeth, and mouth.  His hands and knees were clean, so whatever he fell into, he fell flat on his face.  We think he was running and tripped over a pile of dirt on the side of the house.  Five minutes and a juice later, he was up and running around like nothing happened.

Poor Baby

I guess we should get used to this.  I am sure this is one of many to come:(

ALL ABOUT GAVIN

I haven't written a post about Gavin and all of his new tricks lately, so here it is.  He is almost 2 years old now and I cannot believe how much he has changed.  He tries to talk all the time and he will try and repeat just about anything we tell him to say.  He still loves to pretend that he is talking on the phone all the time.  He is a very calm natured boy, soft spoken, shy, and very sweet.  He seems to be shy when we are around new people, but he warms up after a while.  When we are at home, he is pretty wild and crazy. He is still a very picky and unpredictable eater and that makes things a little difficult.  He will LIVE on milk if we let him and never turns down chocolate chip cookies or french fries.  He also likes cheese dogs, chips, macaroni and cheese, scrambled egg sandwiches, spanish rice, and some other stuff (healthy diet right?).  He can point out a lot of body parts and say them when we ask.  Gavin is still crazy about his dad and always prefers him over me, but he is definitely getting more attached to me lately:)

Here are his top 10 favorite things right now:

1. HIS DADDY.  It is the cutest thing to see how excited he gets to see Nate when he gets home from work!
2. PLAYING OUTSIDE...ANYTIME.  He will drop whatever he is doing to put on shoes and go outside.   He will start to say bye to the movie he is watching, Zoee, the milk and anything else around before he goes to the door.  He especially loves when Nate is working outside and he can get his tools and help him out.
3. ZOEE.  He loves playing with Zoee and cannot ever leave her alone.  If she is ever laying around or sleeping, he has to be petting her, pounding on her, or touching her.  He has gotten a lot better about being nice to her.  He always says, "C'mon Zoe," "Nice Zoe," or tells people, "this is Zoe."  She is so patient with him and takes a lot.  I feel bad for her sometimes, but she always comes back for more!

4. SHOES: Gavin loves shoes and wants to wear them all the time and wants everyone else to be wearing shoes too.  He is always trying to put on our shoes and walk around.  He thinks he knows how to tie them, but really he is just tangling the laces.

5. BUBBLES: Bubbles seem to be one of the favorites lately.  He is constantly wanting more "bubbos" and can't get enough.  He uses this bubble blower and then waves to the bubbles as they blow away in the wind.  It is so cute to watch all of his facial expressions when he see the bubbles (that is a whole other post)

6. BAGELS: We take Gavin to the bagel shop or go get bagels and bring them home almost every weekend and he gets so excited.  When we ask him if he wants to go get a bagel, he understands and he starts to say "bagel, bagel, bagel" (it doesn't sound like that, but we know what he's talking about).  I am so surprised because of how picky he is, but he likes a lot of cream cheese on it

7. MOVING OBJECTS: He loves trucks, tractors, airplanes, RVs, trains, etc.  Every time we are in the car or outside, he points these out and says hi and bye to them.  Here are some of his favorite toys right now.  The truck has button on it that turns on some rock music and he rocks out...pretty cute!

8. MILK

9. MUSIC: He loves any music with a good beat.  He will stop what he is doing if he hears good music on the radio or the TV and dance.  He also likes to dance in the car.  I need to post a video soon.  He has a boom box with the Black Eyed Peas CD and sometimes he gets lucky and presses the right button and turns it on all by himself and gets pretty excited about it.

10: MOVIES:  There are 3 movies that he cannot get enough of right now.  I am a little tired of watching them, but he wakes up asking for them.  I think he dreams of these movies because he likes them so much.  It is funny to watch him because he really does understand a lot of parts.  He gets happy or sad at the right times and he tries to copy a lot from them.  They are Cat in the Hat, Stuart Little, and Cars!

11. SAYING GOODBYE:  He will say bye and wave to just about anything.  For example, he says "bye poo" when he throws his diaper away, "bye feet" when we put on his pajamas with closed feet, "bye wah wah and bubbos" when he is done with the bath, and so on.  You get the picture...

He is saying bye to the airplane in this picture

Well, I am sure I left some stuff out, but these are the top favorites that come to mind.  Gavin is such a good boy and we really are lucky to be his parents! It is crazy how much entertainment and happiness you get just from watching your baby grow up.  We love you Gavin!!

MEMORIAL DAY

Nate and I both went to Vegas over Memorial Day weekend for a Bachelor/Bachelorette Party.  I only went for Saturday night and Gavin stayed with Amy, Jimmy and Taylor.  Thanks again for keeping him over night and taking such good care of him.  Even thought I was only gone for one night, I still missed Gavin a lot:(  We picked him up on Sunday afternoon and we were exhausted.  On Monday we just stayed around the house and got a lot of stuff done.

Someone came around and put these nice flags in every yard in our neighborhood

I went grocery shopping and saw these red, white and blue cupcakes.  It was a pack of three and I got them because I thought Gavin would like them...I was wrong.  First, he got upset because the frosting was getting on his hands and he doesn't like his hands to be dirty.

It fell on the floor and he just kept staring at it.  Then he was over it.  He picked up the cupcakes, put them back in the plastic container and kept saying, "Bye Cookie"!  He didn't want anything to do with them and they had to be put in the trash...no discussion.  So much for the nice surprise I thought he was going to LOVE!

He found this hat in the garage from when he was a lot smaller and he had to wear it.  I am surprised it still fit.  He kept pushing his car back and forth with nothing in it.

We took out this sprinkler toy that we got him last year and he thought it was great.  He likes it a lot more now because he can run in and out of the water.  I hope the weather stays nice!!

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIKE

I am a little late, but I still want to post about this party.  A couple of weeks ago, Nate's mom and sister planned a 60th birthday party for his dad, Mike.  It turned out really nice and we had a good time!  We got to see a lot of friends and family that we don't see very often.  Nate had family here from Arizona and Colorado and it was nice to visit with them.  Mike was really excited about all of the silly gifts that people were giving him!
