We went to Oahu, Hawaii to meet my dad who was coming from Korea. It had been far too long since the last time we saw him. It was nice to spend time with him and see him everyday for almost a week. It was definitely a little harder than I expected to say goodbye and I miss him already, but hopefully we see him again soon.
The trip to Hawaii went so well and Gavin was a trooper. He slept good at night and had an overall good time. It seemed like by the time we got ready and out of the house everyday, it was close to nap time, and the kids napped in the car. That worked out really well. The days we didn't drive anywhere, Gavin would try and dodge his nap and he would stay awake until bedtime. He doesn't like to sleep on vacation.
The plane ride there was great. We had a window seat so he looked out at the planes and luggage carts until we left. Once we took off, he kept asking, "Where is the airplane?" I don't think he knew we were in the plane. He played with his cars and trucks and anything that we could find to keep him busy. He fell asleep for a little while on the way there, and stayed awake the ENTIRE flight home.
On Thursday, we met up with my cousin and her husband who live in Oahu. Her husband is in the navy and they live on the military base. We got to go and see their house and spend the day with them. We drove the North Shore and ate at the shrimp shacks, went to a well known cheeseburger place, visited the Dole Plantation, and had a BBQ by the pool. It was a busy day, but fun!
Cousins Ashley and Jacob
Our condo was right across the street from the Hilton Hawaiian Village and walking distance to the beach. It was perfect to walk to the beach for just a little bit and walk back when the babies were done. It took Gavin a few days to get used to the beach and the sand, but he ended up liking it. Him and Taylor had so much fun and they were the cutest babies on the beach!!
We walked over to the Hilton Hawaiian Village a couple times at night and listened to the live music they had. Gavin and Taylor really liked it a lot and danced.
We had to go to Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville to eat the chicken wings. I think they are some of the best wings I have ever had. We even went back for a second time because they were so good!!
That is where we found this bus. This is the best souvenir we have ever bought. Gavin did not let this out of his hands after we bought it and he still loves it.
The entire time we were there, Gavin did not want anything to do with taking pictures AT ALL. The last night we were there, we went down to the beach to see what we could get. He threw the biggest fit and didn't want to sit with us. When Amy, Jimmy, and Taylor sat down for their family picture, he went right over and joined them...very frustrating. Anyway, we somehow got this one. I am not crazy about th picture in general, but I think it is the biggest smile we got out of him all week!!
Best Buds. We had to keep giving them snacks to try and get them to cooperate. It was good because we could get them to sit, but bad because they are eating in all of the pictures...can't win
We had such a good time there and I am sad the trip ended so quickly. It was fun to go with Amy, Jimmy and Taylor. They are good traveling partners and the kids had fun together.
Aloha!
